Otto's Procedures

Last updated 11 months ago

Becoming an Employee

Apply , and a member of Otto's Autos management will contact you as soon as possible to disclose the outcome of your application & arrange any onboarding(s).

Starting Your Shift

When you arrive at the Otto's Autos you must walk up to the office door, and use to sign yourself onto duty.

Getting Required Equipment

When you're beginning your shift as a mechanic you'll need to have items from your stash on standby, without these items you'll be unable to perform your duties as a mechanic. If you don't have items in the stash you'll have to make your way to the recycling center in Paleto where you'll recycle items in order to get items to put into the stash.

You might have Civilians come into the mechanic shop attempting to sell items to add to the stash and it's up to you if you find the price enough and want to purchase.

Crafting Equipment

Purchasing equipment for the shop and customers is very expensive, if you have the time and the resources you're able to walk to the crafting bench to craft parts you would find in the Vehicle Upgrade Shop and place them into the stash. This helps make Otto's more money and makes you look like a better employee.

Helping Customers

When someone comes into the shop you'll ask them for the keys. If you don't have the keys you'll be unable to fix or upgrade the vehicle.

Vehicle Diagnostics

Vehicle Health

When checking the health of the vehicle you'll get an understanding of what is exactly wrong with it by viewing each part of the vehicle and seeing how much damage it has sustained.

Vehicle Tuning

Before beginning cosmetic and mechanical upgrades you'll use this to see what work the vehicle has had on it in the past. If the customer wants something from this list removed you'll click it and it'll be set back into your inventory, you'll then give them the part you removed.

Vehicle Receipts

If customers head to any mechanic shops, they'll customize their vehicle there and get a receipt of exactly what was added onto their vehicle with the purpose of the receipt being for them to take it to a mechanic. If you're given a receipt upon a customer's arrival you'll follow the instructions. Based on what's on the receipt you'll use it to calculate a final price for the invoice.

Vehicle Repairs

When you have customers come into the shop you're to take their vehicle and park it in the back of the shop otherwise known as the work area. When the vehicle is there you're able to check the status of the vehicle.

Based on the status of the vehicle you'll have the ability to learn what needs to be repaired. When going to repair things on the vehicle you'll be required to have certain materials that you'll find inside of your stash. If you have the materials you'll go back to the vehicle to repair the vehicle. You'll select the option of the part in which you want to repair when it's finished you'll have the items removed from your inventory.

You're able to then again verify the health of the vehicle to confirm the repaired vehicle was successful.

Vehicle Upgrades

When you have someone come into the mechanic shop you're able to upgrade the vehicles whether they're mechanic upgrades or cosmetic upgrades. You'll speak to the people that come into the shop asking what they need and you'll get it for them from the mechanic shop's vehicle upgrades shelf. When you grab the item they request you'll be asked to pay for it using Society.

The money from Society comes from Otto's profits itself. Money will be added back into Society when the purchase is complete along with you getting a percentage of the profits.

When you have the item you'll then go to the vehicle a double-click the item in your inventory. This will prompt a menu to appear with all the possible customization options for the vehicle. You'll speak to the customer if they're unsure of what they might want or if they have a receipt from Benny's you're able to customize the vehicle based on what the receipt has to offer.

If the wrong upgrade is put onto the vehicle you have to take fault and purchase another item from the vehicle shop. If you place an item onto a vehicle and the customer changes their mind that will be on them to pay for the item again.

When you're finished with the upgrades and the customer is satisfied, you will send them an invoice with the charges based on their order. The item list and invoice charge is found here, calculate their total and send them an invoice.

Painting Vehicle

If someone comes to the Mechanic Shop looking for their car to be painted you'll have to go to the crafting table and craft Vehicle Spray Paint. When you have spray paint you'll go to their vehicle and double-click the spray can in your inventory. This will bring up the menu to choose what you want to spray paint, you'll select the category and paint their car.

If the person wants multiple things painted on their car you'll have to craft more than one spray paint can to complete the job. Depending on the amount used you'll add each to the invoice charge calculation.

Road Side Service

While active as a mechanic you're able to get phone calls for roadside service. In the event, you get one of these calls and you're available to leave and go to the service call you will first grab a Tool Box and Tools. You'll Place the Tool Box down on the stop and grab items you've placed inside of it. The Tools are used to repair the vehicle.

You'll then make your way to the front of Otto's Mechanic shop and look for the Pay Station Booth. You'll spawn in the vehicle and make your way to the location to perform the repair.

When finished you'll bill the person who you helped. This can be done by entering /invoices and then clicking Create an invoice. Fill out the invoice as follows, once complete you will select the person near you. They will then head to their bank app and pay the invoice.

Charging The Customer

When you have finished with the customer's request you will walk over to the door where you clocked onto duty to charge the customer. You'll select the customer's name and ask them if they want to pay with a card or cash and then finally input the amount of money you're going to charge them. The invoice will be sent to them and they will accept the invoice, you will receive 2% of how much they were charged.

Ending your Shift

When you are ready to clock off duty you will head to the door you clocked in at and clock off duty.

When a customer first comes into the shop you're to park their vehicle in the work area and the car. There you'll find the following which are used to identify the problem and begin work on the vehicle.
